Competition Reports 2024

NSEA Championships October 2024

12 members of our NSEA team set off for 4 days of stiff competition against the very best equestrian teams from schools across the whole of the United Kingdom that had qualified across the last year to gain a place at the NSEA National and Plate Championships. Hundreds of pupils and their magnificent equine partners convened in Buckinghamshire at one of the UK’s premier equestrian venues, steeped in equestrian heritage, Addington Equestrian.

70 cm Pink Team (Electra B, Florence B, Harriet L, Olivia S) managed a very respectable 15th out of 26 places and Olivia was individually 13th out of 67. Ivy went clear for 44/67 in the individual rankings.

80cm Pink Team (Ivy M, Lilly S, Rosie C) had a couple of unlucky poles down left them in 21st place out of 43.

90cm Pink Team (Lilly S, Electra B, Rosie C) had some poles down to leave them in 28th out of 34th position.

90cm Blue Team (Amber B, Chloe B, Lilly S and Ivy M) did an absolutely amazing clear and fast first round to put them into the top 8 which qualified them for the top 8 jump off where they ultimately came 5th out of 34!

National Championships Jumping with Style

This class combines a first section of show jumps with a second of arena cross country fences. Riders are judged on style as well as jumping and style penalties.

70cm Electra B was individually qualified and did an absolutely smashing round with just one unfortunate refusal placing her 19th out of 25.

90cm Lilly S was again individually qualified and rode another amazing, just having an unfortunate run out at the last placing her 20th out of 39.

National Championships Combined Training

This requires the rider to perform a dressage test followed by a show jumping round with penalties being accrued from both.

1M CT Antonia S did a superb dressage test followed by a clear show jumping round to come 4th overall!

Plate Championships Show Jumping

70cm Ivy M was individually qualified and rode a super clear round to come 16th.

NSEA 28th/29th September 2024

We are very happy to share that the school equestrian team was out competing again on the last weekend of September and had some fantastic firsts as well as results:

Firstly, for the first time ever, we had enough riders to make up a dressage team; Claudia B, Electra B and Lilly S all rode lovely dressage tests to get placed as a team in 4th place and Lilly as an Individual in 6th place. What a wonderful start for them and a fantastic position to build from!

Secondly, we had new riders out competing for the first time who all got placed in their classes!! Fenella B (3rd in the 60cm), Lyla B (3rd in the 70cm) and Sophia S (4th in the 70cm) did an amazing job and qualified for the Grass Roots Regional Finals as well as the Grassroots Championships at Hickstead in August.

Well done everyone!

NSEA 28th June 2024

A team of NSEA riders headed to Hickstead last Friday 28th for the 60th Hurst College Show Jumping Championships.

Hundreds of young riders from schools across the country gathered for the opportunity to compete and gain qualification to ride on the hallowed turf of the International Arena at Hickstead.

Chloe B had previously qualified to compete in the 1.10m NSEA Championship, which was the first class held in the International Arena that day. It was a huge achievement to have just qualified but unfortunately Chloe had a tricky round and was not placed in that class.

The junior team comprising of Electra B, Olivia S, Rosie C and Harriet L then jumped in the 85cm junior preliminary rounds and came 6th qualifying them to ride in the final in the International Arena, what an achievement! The competition was tough and in the end they finished 10th overall. They enjoyed taking part in the finalists parade after receiving their lavish rosettes in the prize giving ceremony!

Izzy L jumped individually for the juniors and rode extremely well for only 4 faults but unfortunately didn’t get placed.

The senior team comprising of Antonia S, Chloe B, Jess R and Amber B had some tricky rounds which meant the senior team didn’t qualify as a whole for the finals, but Amber and Jess did as individuals and went on to jump in the International Arena. They rode extremely well but some unlucky poles down meant they were not in the final placings.

7 out of our 9 riders rode in the International Arena that day which was a huge achievement! The riders and their horses were impeccably turned out, immaculately behaved and rode so extremely well!

Congratulations everyone!
