Senior Sport

“I have been very fortunate in my career to have coached varied age-groups, all with contrasting strengths of abilities.  In the the last few years I have developed my expertise in the area of talent identification and talent development.  Regardless of the level, I am passionate about helping every single child to fulfil their potential. At Cranmore there is a great sporting tradition and it is a real privilege to lead a strong team of staff who give our pupils such remarkable sporting opportunities.”
Paul Hodgson, Director of Sport at Cranmore.

At Cranmore, our vision is to be regarded as an outstanding school for the provision of sport, at all levels; and across our 4Cs – Competitions, Curriculum, Co-curricular and Clubs. Our aim is to inspire, motivate and engage every pupil, ensuring physical activity through enjoyment and encouraging values such as grit, determination, honesty, proactivity and willingness to go the extra mile.

Pupils have the opportunity to learn over 20 sports including skiing, golf, rowing, football, rugby, netball, cricket, gymnastics and swimming. Pupils can benefit from seven specialist staff, with inter-school matches and competitive fixtures held regularly.  A high proportion of pupils also play for local clubs, with many going on to represent District and County.

We have a number of professional coaches who complement our sports programme and we have established  strong links with various sporting partners. e.g. Drift Golf Club.  With football we have Chelsea FC, who regularly run coaching sessions.  Other sports available include: archery, athletics, biathlon, badminton, cross country, fencing,  hockey, rock climbing, smart sport, squash, dance, tennis and table tennis.
