Sports Weekly Round Up

The second week of the rugby season included the U11s competing at the Wellington Festival, the U12 A & B playing against Thomas’s, Clapham and the U9 A to F competing away at Cranleigh.  On Saturday, Cranmore hosted an U11 A to C triangular with Cranleigh and Trinity, and U10 A to C played Cranleigh away.  On Thursday at Cranmore, we had the first U8s rugby fixtures of the season versus Cranleigh, with a total of 12 matches taking place across the year group.  There were plenty of tries scored and plenty of tagging on the very enjoyable afternoon for the children.  Monday we had the U9s Danes Hill block fixture taking place with six teams competing (A to F), with three at home and three away.  Finally, on Tuesday our squash squad competed at the Lancing College Tournament (U11 & U13).  Despite some Cranmore children playing up a year group, the team showed excellent form and effort, resulting in the team reaching three finals.

This week sees the U13 and U12 A & B heading to Cranleigh for a triangular to play Hurst/Cranleigh and Cranleigh/Aldo respectively.  On Friday, the U9 A and B are competing in the CLFS festival and are competing against Nothcote Lodge the day after.  Also on Saturday at Cranmore, the U11A,U12A and U13A are playing against Northcote Lodge and our 5th and 6th Form rowers are competing in the Burway Head of the River.

This week is a very exciting one regarding netball with England netball player Tamsin Greenway visiting the school on Wednesday to deliver a masterclass before the U8 A/B and U9 A/B teams play a match against Cranleigh on Thursday.  Finally, a big congratulations to our cricket programme that has been recognised in ‘The Cricketer Good Schools Guide’, see article here https://www.thecricketer.com/Topics/magazine/the_cricketer_schools_guide_2019.html
