Sports Update

It gives us great pleasure in bringing your attention to an outstanding performance from our Cranmore ski squad at the SATIPS Championships. Over 100 skiers from the South of England region competed at the event held at The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead. The competition ran across two age groups, U11s and U13s, and the format of the morning was both an individual and team event. All 12 Cranmore children skied superbly, ultimately resulting in our U13s finishing second and our U11s finishing first in their respective age groups.

A special mention to Grant Messinger who, despite being an U10 competitor, clocked the fastest overall time out of all 108 skiers on the day.  The ski squad always performs exceptionally well in any competition the teams enter and a huge reason for this is the leadership and passion for the sport shown by our Head of Skiing, Mr Mellstrom. Whether it’s the commitment to ski club and ski squad training on Monday evenings at Sandown or the endless hours of waxing and sharpening of skis, the dedication from Mr Mellstrom is clear to see and is evident in the results on the slopes. Our tennis squads have been in action throughout last week against Downsend, Shrewsbury House and Lanesborough School (see SOCS for results) and our U11 and U13 golf squad competed at the Charterhouse competition on Tuesday.

Members of our swim squad participated in the South East Regional Finals in which we had qualified earlier in the year. Our U11s had a top 5 finish in the freestyle relay and a top 7 finish in the medley relay. Cricket fixtures have included matches against Downsend, Shrewsbury House and City of London Freemen’s School. Congratulations to our 1st XI who are through to the semi finals of the Surrey Cup after a ten wicket win against Rokeby school.
