Sports Update: 13 February 2020

The end of the Cranmore rugby season was marked by the annual Dunckley Shield taking place. The competition between the two schools, Cranmore and Donhead, began 25 years ago in 1995. Overall, Donhead are 11-10 up with regards to the number of years they’ve won the competition, despite Cranmore winning the last 8. Using the competition scoring system, Cranmore were 2-1 down going into the final Saturday, with 6 matches still to play across the U10 and U11 Year Groups. There were some very competitive matches and plenty of superb rugby on display, resulting on many results coming down to the wire. Cranmore ended up with 4 wins and a draw on the morning which meant Cranmore were crowned the Dunckley Shield Winners, 2020. Well done to all involved!

On the previously Wednesday, the U8s rugby teams were in action, with again the opposition being Donhead. 5 tag-rugby matches took place in glorious weather, proving to be a very enjoyable afternoon for everyone.

Our U8 and U7 girls were in action on Friday afternoon, playing hockey against Rowan School. Fine weather helped the exciting matches to take place, allowing all involved to have a great time. Also on Friday, our Squash Squad were in action over at CLFS as part of a regular round of fixtures.

Members of our Swim Squad featured in the IAPS Qualifiers last Thursday, which was held at St Teresa’s. Superb swimming in both the individuals and relays have meant that hopefully, there will be Cranmore swimmers featuring in the Finals at the London Aquatics Centre in June.

Finally, we wish the 250 people attending Saturday’s Harlequins match a fabulous time.
