Rowing Course

During our annual rowing course, we were fortunate in having superb weather and, after swimming tests in the pool at the Excel Centre, everyone was soon out in a variety of boats on the river.

Progress was rapid and soon everyone was ready for our expedition up the river and round the old river to Desborough Island for a picnic lunch and then the long row back to Walton. After a further training session we had a mini fun regatta so everyone got a race as well.

It’s not all about the rowing, however: we also visited Aqualand in Thorpe for a session on the inflatables in the lake and also took kayaks down through the lock to Sunbury for an ice cream.

Rowing is a sports option for pupils in the 4th, 5th and 6th Forms on their games afternoons and all pupils from the 3rd form upwards are welcome to come and try rowing at Walton Rowing Club on a Saturday morning.
