Dear Parents and Carers

The children have had a very busy week here in Pre-Nursery and Nursery. They are getting used to new routines and places and are settling in really well. There have been plenty of opportunities for getting to know each other outside in the garden whilst exploring the Mud Kitchen, playing in the sandpit and taking turns on the bikes.

We have started our programme of phonics activities and have introduced the phoneme ‘S’ this week and the children have sprinkled coloured sand to make sparkly artwork for display.

The children were introduced to Forest School this week, with Mrs Woods reporting that a very happy time was had by all. They enjoyed exploring the site, playing Hide and Seek, and of course, looking for Sammy and Sally Squirrel. On Wednesday the
Nursery children attended their first dance session with Miss Ashleigh.

In Pre-Nursery this week the children have enjoyed exploring the theme of ‘Under the Sea.’ They have played with different sea creatures in water play and enjoyed making Starfish biscuits.

Our Friday morning Toddler Group was well attended this morning. Do invite your friends to come along and see for themselves what fun activities we offer the children.

Toddler Group is led by Mrs Rossi each Friday in term-time from 9.30am-11.30am.
We will be starting our Swimming sessions on Thursday; please ensure you return your completed questionnaires otherwise your child will not be able to attend.

Next week please remember:

  • To sign your child in when you arrive in the mornings and out again at the end of their session
  • Please check your child’s tray for items of their work
  • ‘Show and Tell’ we will be continuing with the phoneme ‘S’ and we will be looking at Julia Donaldson’s books. Please help your child find something relating to these books, for example a book character to show to their friends and talk about.

Best wishes,
Melanie Luke, Nursery Coordinator
