We had a very special guest in a recent assembly. Harlequins player Danny Care surprised everyone (staff included) when he entered the auditorium after the children had seen some of his impressive highlights on the big projector. The 84 England capped International gave his thoughts and overview of the Rugby World Cup including his prediction for the finalists. Danny answered some great questions from the pupils, including ‘what sports did you play when you were younger?’ Danny mentioned that he enjoyed football and athletics as a child, but encouraged the children to play and try as many sports as possible whilst they have the opportunity. It was a real treat to have Danny at our school and we are really grateful for him taking the time from his busy rugby and physio schedule.
Football fixtures have taken place across the school against Downsend, Hoe Bridge and KCJS (see SOCS for results), as well as continuing our House Football competition. The U9s played netball against Bishopgate, whilst the U8s trained with Hoe Bridge on Tuesday. Our golf squad were in action both Thursday and Friday at Cranleigh and Whitgift (Croham GC) respectively, plus our members of our squash squad played against CLFS on Friday evening.
Saturday morning saw our annual U8 and U10 Football Tournament taking place on the Henderson fields. Once again, the morning was a great success with Cranmore hosting 16 football teams with over 150 people supporting the event. I have received lots of great feedback and praise regarding the morning from the other schools and visiting parents. I would like to say a huge thank you and well done to Mr O’Neill our Head of Football and the rest of the sports staff for preparing and delivering another great event.
