From the Director of Sport: 14th November

The end of the football season always has a special tournament with all age groups playing against our friends at Rokeby. On Saturday, eight teams travelled to our opposition for the annual Henkes Shield, which was first contested in 1983. In the early kick offs the U9B & U10B teams both won, resulting in 2-0 lead going into the next six matches. The momentum switched throughout these matches; at one point Rokeby were leading in four of these games. Could the Cranmore teams stage a comeback? By 10.40am all the matches were complete and thankfully our teams showed great commitment and determination to secure the Henkes Shield, 5.5 points to 2.5 points. Congratulations to all the teams for their performances on the day and a big thank you to all the travelling support.

The final week of the core curriculum sport also included whole year group fixtures for U13/U12 versus Danes Hill, U9 vs KCJS and U10 vs Northcote Lodge (see results on the sports portal).
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank our Head off Football, Mr O’Neill with the rest of the sports staff for a very successful and fixture packed football season.

On Friday, a great afternoon of netball took place with both our U8s and U9s playing against St Teresa’s and with both teams managing a win. Saturday saw the the St. George’s U8 hockey tournament take place where Cranmore won one game, drew three and were bronze medallists in the tournament. There was more hockey on Monday, with our U9s competing in the Danes Hill tournament in which they performed very well.

Congratulations to our U8s who reached the final at the Cumnor House Tournament. Well done!

Mr Paul Hodgson
Director of Sport
