As the winter evenings draw in, we are reminded of our amazing facilities here at Cranmore and in particular the benefit of our floodlit sports areas. With many pupils from each year attending after-school training, both astro pitches have been in full use, as you can see from these photos!

We are delighted to hear that we have been included in The Cricketer magazine’s ‘Top 50 Schools Guide 2021’ for cricket schools. This is the third year in a row that we have been awarded this accolade. The selection criteria includes the coaching specialism, facilities and successes on the field. It also takes into account the provision that was offered during remote learning in the recent Summer term. Mr Down provided a fantastic weekly home practice cricket skill set, as well as signposting some excellent resources. This achievement is testament to staff, parents and of course pupils. More information, including the special magazine edition, can be found at:

We are not only very fortunate with the amount of sport pupils receive at Cranmore, but also the coach-to-student ratio, which allows for plenty of individual skill development. During netball, the Year 3, 4 & 5 girls have been practising their power of passing and shooting accuracy. Mrs Attree and Miss Moore have been exceptionally impressed with the improvement amongst all girls.

It was very pleasing to participate in a ‘Virtual Swimming Gala’ at the end of November, which included many local schools. Stroke timings took place both in Swim Squad training and the weekly swimming lessons. There was some outstanding swimming on show, producing some superb times. The various event recordings have been sent across to the organiser to be compared with other schools and we await the results at time of print.

The ‘Cranmore Inter Winter League’ has been a huge a success and the competition came to a thrilling finale last week. Every year group was decided in the last round of matches, allowing for an exciting finish. Over the course of the league there have been more than 500 goals scored in 98 matches, with lots of superb performances. Every pupil should take huge credit for their positive attitude and effort, which was seen aplenty across the five weeks. And of course, big congratulations goes to the winning teams!
