World Book Day Celebrations

The whole school celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as a book character. An enormous amount of fun was had and the costumes were exceptionally creative.  Lower and Middle Prep classes were treated to a visit by a local author, Nicola Rowley.  My favourite quote of the day was from one of the children who said, “At home I write my own stories so I can be an author!”  Many of the children now feel inspired to become either authors or illustrators following Nicola’s talk.  She discussed the inspiration behind her books and encouraged the children to never give up by saying,  “If you dream it, you can achieve it!”

Other activities took place throughout the school including competitions in the Senior Library, bookmark-making and sharing a book with other year groups in the Junior department.

Overall, it was a day which demonstrated the children’s incredible love of reading throughout the school.
